Meet our Valued Team
Scott Goldman, Senior Claims Attorney - Claims
Great American’s Environmental Division is excited to welcome Scott Goldman to its Claims team as a Senior Claims Attorney. In his role, Scott handles complex environmental liability claims and collaborates with underwriters to promote and protect the insured’s interests. With over 20 years of environmental law experience, Scott brings valuable talent to the Division.
Prior to joining Great American, Scott worked in environmental claims for a leading commercial lines insurance company. As a claims attorney, he handled litigation and environmental clean-up, managed outside defense counsel and negotiated directly with claimants and their counsel as well as environmental regulatory agencies. Scott has managed a wide variety of matters including mining reclamation, Superfund defense and cost recovery, toxic tort, and sudden and catastrophic pollution losses.
Scott started his career as counsel for the West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection where he performed pollution enforcement and regulatory actions on behalf of the state. He has since worked for private law practices and other insurance companies practicing environmental litigation, including the largest firm in West Virginia performing environmental work.
Scott received his Bachelor of Science in engineering from Washington University in St. Louis. He then went on to earn his Juris Doctorate from West Virginia University College of Law.
"I’ve always felt like I was meant to work in the environmental field. Awareness around major environmental issues was just starting to emerge when I began working in the industry. As the environmental insurance field continued to evolve, so did my career," Scott said.
Scott is based out of Pittsburgh.

She has also previously held positions working as a professional geologist where she performed environmental sampling and worked on a variety of contaminated sites.
Samantha obtained her Bachelor of Science in geology from Georgia Southwestern State University, where she also served as Editor in Chief at the university newspaper, the Sou’Wester.
“I always felt like it was our duty as humans to be ‘stewards of the land’. As an adult, I wanted to continue on that path of maintaining the necessary environmental integrity that future generations deserve,” Samantha said.
